LEWISTON – A surprise party was held recently for Roger and Rachel St. Pierre of Lewiston, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. The event was planned by daughters, sons, sons-in-law and daughters-in-law of the couple and was held at Marco’s Restaurant. They are Anne Walker and Tim Hoyt, Lisa and Erik Tiner, Michael and Rachel St. Pierre and Gary and Lisa St. Pierre.

The couple renewed their vows, with the Rev. Laurent Laplante officiating. He is Mrs. St. Pierre’s cousin, and also officiated at their wedding.

Decorations were in white and gold balloons and a 50th anniversary banner. Two original wedding pictures were on display and a slide show was presented of their years together. Toastmaster was Marcel St. Pierre. A matted frame for guests to sign was featured.

Mr. St. Pierre and the former Rachel Guilmette were married Oct. 12, 1957, at Saints Peter and Paul Church. The couple has four children, Anne, Michael, Gary and Lisa. Their grandchildren are Jennifer, Jaime, Brian, Tony, Gary, Emily, Britney, Laura, Erik, Brandon and Jacob. Great-grandchildren are Courtney, Tyler and Rebecca.

Mrs. St. Pierre is retired from Hannaford, after 30 years of service.

Mr. St. Pierre is retired from the Auburn Highway Department, after 15 years of service.

Original wedding attendants present were Marcel St. Pierre, Jeanne (Allen) Collins and Carmen (Dupuis) Clifford.

Guests included family from Alabama, Connecticut, Virginia and Maine.
