SACO (AP) – A 42-year-old woman and her teenage son have been charged in a string of car break-ins in southern Maine.
Kimberly Jones and 19-year-old Shane Jones were arraigned Friday following their arrests Thursday night.
Police say Shane Jones, who lives in Old Orchard Beach, was arrested after a car owner allegedly caught him trying to get into a car in a parking lot in Saco.
Kimberly Jones, who lives in Massachusetts, was arrested nearby in what was described as a getaway car.
Police say it was full of items that were reported stolen from car break-ins earlier in the night in Biddeford and Kennebunk.
The mother and son are charged with Class C burglary.
The mother is in the York County Jail, but jail officials say Shane Jones was inadvertently released Friday evening after he pretended to be someone who was due to be released from custody.
