LIVERMORE – The Jay-Livermore-Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce gathered in the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center mansion kitchen for a country breakfast on Dec. 7. A short business meeting followed.

Officers were announced for 2008: chairman, Brett Beno, Fabian Oil; vice chairman, Joe Young, Moose Hill Farm; secretary, Michelle St. Jean, Smart Works Physical Therapy; treasurer, Paul Soucie, Androscoggin Bank; past chairman, Bruce Adams, Group Adams Propane Services.

Adams announced the receipt of a $100 donation from the Bowman Field Flying Club for the chamber scholarship fund, in appreciation for chamber members helping with the annual fly-in.

Roland Poirier announced International Paper has donated the former mill manager’s home and later the Woodlands Division Office at 22 Church St., Livermore Falls, to the Western Maine Paper and Heritage Museum.

The chamber recognized Poirier, Sherry Judd and Brenda Clark, as well as the rest of the committee, for their dedication to securing the building. Poirier spoke of the need for volunteers to help with the grounds, as well as setting up the museum.

The chamber is searching for a chairman for the 2008 Apple-Pumpkin Festival. Previous committee members will return.

The 2008 membership campaign is under way. The application is available on the Web site or at the chamber office and is due Tuesday, Jan. 1.

The chamber will hold its annual meeting on Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Carriage House Café and Event Banquet Center.

The Friday, Feb. 1, breakfast meeting will feature Maine State Chamber staff members speaking on their legislative focus for 2008, as well as their Blue Options Program, which added two new options on Jan. 1.

In an attempt to design the 2008 visitor’s guide and send it to the printers early in 2008, the committee will meet early in January to start working on the project.

During the Norlands meeting, members were whisked back into the 1800s with a presentation on education of that era by School Mistress Clara Howard (Willi Irish) of Mischief Corner in North Livermore.
