LISBON – One driver was hurt in a head-on crash on Route 196 Monday afternoon that totaled his vehicle and heavily damaged the other.
Shawn Donahue, 34, of 344 Lisbon St., Lisbon, had to be extricated from his vehicle by personnel from the Lisbon Falls Fire Company. He complained of neck and head pain and was taken by ambulance to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.
The driver of the second vehicle, Sherry L. Giberti, 53, of 35 Flanders St., Auburn, escaped apparent injury as did her husband, Thomas, 53.
According to investigating officer Jeffrey Picard, Giberti was driving east on Route 196 near Sunset Avenue when her SUV fishtailed out of control on the slippery road surface and slammed head-on into Donahue’s vehicle, which was approaching from the opposite direction.
Damage was estimated at $5,000 to Giberti’s 2001 Ford Explorer. Donahue’s 1998 Jeep Wrangler was totaled in the 4:24 p.m. crash.
