NORWAY – Responsible Pet Care of Oxford Hills will sponsor a vaccination and microchip implantation clinic from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Norway Fire Station.

Dr. Suzanne Best will be present to administer rabies and distemper vaccinations for cats and dogs. The cost of the vaccinations is $10 for a rabies shot and $12 for a distemper shot.

The clinic will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis. Pet owners must restrain their animals on leashes or in animal carriers. Pet owners should also bring records of their animal’s previous vaccinations.

Animal owners will receive an official rabies certificate. The certificate must be presented when renewing a dog’s license or when licensing a puppy for the first time.

The state laws require all puppies to be licensed in the town where they reside when they reach the age of 6 months. All dog licenses must be renewed yearly before Jan. 31 to avoid incurring a late fee. Also, all dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies.

Also being offered that day is the opportunity to have a pet implanted with a HomeAgain microchip. The microchip gives the pet protection should it become lost.

The implantation and activation fee is $25. There is an additional annual membership fee of $14.99. More information about the HomeAgain loss prevention program can be found at www.HomeAgain.com.

Responsible Pet Care is a shelter and adoption center for cats and kittens. It is located on Route 118.
