BANGOR – The Lewiston Junior Maineiacs Squirt Travel hockey team ventured north and enjoyed a profitable weekend, skating away with two victories and a tie. Lewiston edged Bangor, 2-1, before a 3-3 tie against Brewer and a decisive 8-1 triumph over the Junior Black Bears.

Jacob Charest led the way for Lewiston with a combined four goals and two assists. Ryley Austin collected three goals, while Kyle Morin tallied twice. Adding one goal apiece were Trevor Lachance, Cody Woodward and Reid Pomerleau (two assists each) along with Kyle Ullrich.

Luc Dostie added three assists for Lewiston. Kiana Melvin set up a pair of goals, with Evan Emerson and Cooper Richard each registering one helper.

Kyle Welsh and Sam Zashut provided stellar goaltending throughout the road trip.

Three more wins for Jr. Maineiac White

LEWISTON – The Jr, Maineiacs Squirt White squad improved its overall record to 13-3-2 by going 3-1 in recent action.

Liam Benson and Corinne Laberge led the way to a 7-0 victory over cross-town rival Auburn. Benson tallied two goals and three assists. Laberge netted four goals. The final goal came from Owen McCarthy. Assists went to Bobby Chabot, Eli McBride, McCarthy and Steve Hammerton.

The Maineiacs were on the short end of a 2-1 decision to Central Maine White. Dylan Brown and Cameron Rodrigue were goal-getters for Central Maine. McCarthy scored the lone goal for the Maineiacs, with the assist going to Alex Morgan.

Andrew Loisel tallied a hat trick with the other two goals coming from McCarthy as the Maineiacs bounced back with a convincing 5-1 win over Gardiner. Laberge and Hammerton registered assists.

Finally, the Mainieacs finished the week with a 3-1 win over Kennebec. Zack Guimond and Laberge registered goals. Chris Miller closed the scoring with his first of the season on a nifty rebound. Assists went to Jody Cabral, McBride, McCarthy, Benson and Loisel.

Goaltender Nick Hawk continued his stellar play in net for all four games.

Maranacook picks up win, tie in Bantam play

KENTS HILL – Dakota Bowie scored five goals over the weekend for the Maranacook Bantam hockey team, including a pair Saturday in a 5-3 victory over Central Maine White at Colby College in Waterville.

Ian Palmer, Tony McIver and Eric Crawley also scored for Maranacook, with George Bragdon picking up two assists and Tyler Leet landing one.

Patrick Thorne, Dakota Gendreau and Kyle Hadyniak connected for Central Maine, with Justin May producing an assist.

Bowie’s hat trick countered Brewster Cherkos’ three goals for Penobscot Valley in a 4-4 tie at Maranacook’s home rink, Alfond Arena.

Crawley scored Maranacook’s other goal, with Leet chalking up three assists.

Mark Albert mustered a goal and two assists for Penobscot Valley.

River Mullan of Maranacook (11-4-2) was opposed in goal by Cody Thibodeau of Central Maine and Jimmy Sargent of Penobscot Valley.
