On Friday, December 14, as a Philip W. Sugg Middle School Junior Volunteer and a member of the Academic Advocate staff, I took some of my time to assist the Lisbon Rotary Club. The Rotary group sponsors the students at all three Lisbon Schools with various projects throughout the school year, and students help Rotarians with theirs. I volunteered to ring the bell for the Salvation Army at the Food City store in Lisbon Falls. It felt really good knowing my volunteering would help other families who are in need. During my shift were the Rotary vice president Richard Read, and Margaret Waters, former Lisbon Rotary president and treasurer. Lisbon School students volunteered their time for this project for two December weekends at different locations.

Recently, I spoke with Mr. Read about the Rotary’s bell ringing project. “I feel that Lisbon makes a good effort in donating to the Salvation Army,” shared Mr. Read. He also said “Lisbon sticks together to help one and another out.”

I would like to thank everyone who took time to stop and donate to this great cause.
