LEWISTON – LAYHL Orange Squirts averaged an impressive seven goals per game in reeling off four consecutive wins over the last two weeks.

Kevin Bannister delivered a hat trick and one assist in a 7-5 victory over Western Maine Wolverines at Androscoggin Bank Colisee. Colby Bilodeau added two goals and two assists. Evan Bowers also scored a goal, while Nick Carlin netted his first of the season on an assist from Tori Sanford. Brendan Donovan set up Bannister’s final strike, an empty-netter that secured the win with 24 seconds left.

Travis Townsend and Mason Laplante each scored twice for the Wolverines, who experienced their first loss of the season. Townsend handed out two assists. Kaleb Currier chalked up a goal, with one assist apiece to John Gresh and Owen Richmond. Trent Spaulding tended the net for LAYHL Orange.

Orange routed Midcoast 10-0 in its next outing, with Spaulding notching the shutout. Bannister led the eruption with five goals and two assists, backed by Conrad Grimmer’s three goals and three helpers and Bowers’ two goals and five assists. Tyler Poisson also registered an assist.

Central Maine Gold Squirts put up a stern challenge before Orange escaped with a 4-3 win. Grimmer gathered two goals, with Donovan and Colby Bilodeau each collecting one. Bannister took a break from his offensive exploits to earn the win in net. Riley Whitcomb logged the lone assist for Orange.

Sam Haver tallied twice for Gold, with Willie Weeks adding the other goal. Jack Aldrich, Zach Smith and Ben Hatch picked up assists.

After a one-week respite, Orange picked up where it left off in a 7-0 victory over LAYHL Black. Orange played a splendid defensive game in keeping the wraps on top Black scorers Ryan Gosselin and Patric Racine. Bannister received the game puck for his tremendous effort in net. Cam Beach also played a stellar game.

Bannister had a stick in all seven goals, scoring five. His passes set the table for goals by Grimmer and Donovan. Grimmer also dished two assists.
