LEWISTON – American Legion Post 22 will meet at 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street
Joseph Paradis, trustee and service officer, said Mayor Larry Gilbert will speak, and a question-and-answer period will follow.
Paradis said that because the last meeting was canceled due to weather, the same program will be held. He said he will have available the proper form for veterans who qualify and may want to apply for the new state Silver Star Honorable Service Medal.
He will also have forms for veterans who may wish to have their names put on a stone in the Veterans Memorial Park. Cost is $30 and separation papers from the service are required
Membership dues of $27.50 may be paid at the meeting.
Paradis said the planned Christmas buffet will be served, and the ham raffle will be held with post Adjutant Jerry DerBoghosian in charge. Second Vice Commander Raymond Allen, assisted by his wife, Louise, and Sally Dumont, Auxiliary members, will serve the lunch.
A special segment of the meeting will be dedicated to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day. There will be special prayers, poems and a proclamation honoring King.
