OXFORD – “An African Adventure,” a photographic program by photographer Ron Laing, will be presented Sunday, Jan. 13, at Oxford Advent Christian Church.
Featured in this safari and mission adventure show are the beautiful land and nomadic cattle-keeping people of Kenya’s Maasai Mara, as seen through Laing’s camera.
Music will be provided by local artists.
The program will begin at about 6:30 p.m., following the earlier fellowship supper at the church on Route 26. Laing will sign copies of his book “An African Adventure, Memoirs of Kenya’s Maasai Mara,” based upon his travels to Kenya in 2005, following the program. All proceeds from the book will be donated to the Kenya Children’s Uniform Fund, a nonprofit organization that provides school uniforms for children who otherwise would not receive an education. For more information, call 743-7310.
An accomplished photographer with more than 30 years of experience, Laing has received many awards for his work around the world. He is a member of the Photographic Society of America and has been awarded the society’s associate fellowship for his initiations to New England camera clubs, his fine exhibition record and his judging, teaching and program services for photographers and the society.
He has received gold, silver and bronze medals for images entered into worldwide competitions.
Before retirement, Laing taught photography at Middlesex Community College in Bedford, Mass., for 12 years. He now lives in Oxford and is a member of the Portland Maine Camera Club.
