BRUNSWICK – The Maine Jazz Alliance will host its annual meeting and open jazz jam session Sunday, Jan. 27, at Augustine’s Restaurant. The public is invited to listen and/or join in playing music with the host band. Musicians of all experience levels from beginners of improvisation to jazz masters are welcome to take a turn “sitting in” with the house band featuring Sally Davis, piano/vocals; Sam Sherry, double bass; and Phil McGowan, drums.
The event from 2 to 4 p.m. is free.
The afternoon will begin with a short business meeting and the election of officers for 2008. Officers will bring members up to date on MJA plans for the year, and the 2nd Annual Wicked Cool Jazz Hero Award will be presented. The floor will then open up for comments and suggestions from attendees. The jam session will begin at the conclusion of the brief business meeting.
Light refreshments will be served, with additional food items available for purchase from Augustine’s menu. A cash bar will also be available.
Augustine’s is at 10 Water St. For more information, e-mail [email protected], or call 373-0306.
