HALLOWELL – The Lewiston Demons hockey team won their second game in a row Sunday night, remaining only one point out of first place in the Northern Middle School Hockey League with a 7-1 victory over Waterville Middle School at Kennebec Ice Arena.

Down by a goal, the Demons (6-1-1) got on the board when Marty Moreau started the scoring with an unassisted blast from the point near the end of the first period.

Tied 1-1 starting the second period, the Demons got two goals each from David Cusson and Tommy Lepage, with assists going to Alex Gregoire, Cusson and Lepage.

Converting on several power plays to put the game away, the Demons completed the scoring in the third period with goals by Devin Bilodeau and Gregoire with assists going to Cusson and Jacob Soucy.

The Demons played stellar defense, also, with Coleman Morency, Jake Bergeron, Rudy Pandora, Tommy Hird and Moreau helping goaltenders Noah Hutchinson and Brady Ouellette keep Waterville at bay. Other forwards who helped with persistent forechecking, keeping the pressure on Waterville’s goaltender, were Chris Rancourt, Cam Boucher, Kile Conn and Kevin Lavertu. Lewiston will try to keep its streak intact Sunday against Winslow Middle School at KIA.
