ORONO (AP) – An educator from Kentucky has been named the new president of the University of Maine at Augusta.

University of Maine System trustees on Monday unanimously approved the appointment of Allyson Hughes Handley to the post.

Handley is now a policy adviser for the Kentucky Council on Postsecondary Education. She previously served as president of two colleges: Midway College in Kentucky and Cogswell College in California.

She is scheduled to begin her new job on March 1. The position pays $137,000 a year.
