BUCKFIELD — A 17-year-old Buckfield student is facing serious charges after being accused of videotaping sex acts with a younger child.
Benjamin G. Felker of Turner Road, who will turn 18 next month, is charged with five counts of Class A gross sexual assault and one count of Class A sexual exploitation of a minor.
Oxford County sheriff’s Lt. Hart Daley said the charges are the result of sexual contact with one child under the age of 12. He declined to release further information on the child’s age or gender.
“I will definitely be protecting (the identity of) the family and the victim in this matter,” he said.
Daley said the offenses occurred in Felker’s residence during the latter part of last summer and perhaps as far back as two years ago. Felker was charged after a family member of the victim discovered a videotape of the sex acts, Daley said.
“He admitted to everything,” Daley said.
Daley said he obtained permission from Felker’s parents to search his room and found more evidence against him, but declined to comment on what it was.
Felker’s booking sheet at the Oxford County Jail says he is a student, but Daley would not comment on where he is enrolled. Daley said the school has not been notified of the charges, and that he is not required to do so unless the student will be returning and deemed a threat, or if the student has been convicted of a sex crime.
Daley said he was also unable to comment on any criminal history Felker has as a juvenile.
He said it is possible that Felker could be charged as an adult.
Assistant District Attorney Joe O’Connor said he was unable to comment because it is a pending juvenile case.
Felker was initially held without bail, but was not in jail as of Friday afternoon.
