LEWISTON – Rep. Tom Allen visited Androscoggin Head Start and Child Care’s Policy Council on Jan. 7.

Accompanied by his wife, Diane, Allen spoke about the recent reauthorization of the federal Head Start bill.

The Policy Council is a formal governing body made up of parents of Head Start children, past parents of Head Start children and community representatives.

Through monthly meetings, the Policy Council empowers its members to have a direct voice in program policy. The council gives Head Start parents the opportunity to make decisions that affect their children’s growth and development.
