HEBRON – The Hebron Academy Middle School ski team recently competed in its first race of the season, a giant slalom at Sunday River in Bethel.

In a combined field of 110 racers, Isabel Kannegieser of Minot finished in second place and turned in the day’s fastest run on the Blue course.

The girls’ field included 44 racers. Julia Schneider of Durham had a solid 16th place finish for Hebron. Rosalyn Moisan (Raymond) followed in 20th, and Paige Kenison (Casco) took 29th. Though she had a bobble on the second run, Phoebe Chamberlin (Auburn) turned in a solid first effort.

Among 65 boys, Corrie van Haasteren (Raymond) led the way for Hebron with his fifth-place finish. Brooks Layman (Auburn) followed in 12th. Sawyer Harkins (South Paris) was 18th, and Josh Hews (Poland) finished 32nd. Jake Irish (Buckfield) had a solid first run before a stumble in the second run, and Paul Webster-Pact (Wales) completed two runs on the tough giant slalom course.
