Ice harvesting

LIVERMORE – The Washburn-Norlands Living History Center will hold its annual ice harvesting on Saturday, Jan. 26.

Demonstrations will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and take place on the ice at Bartlett Pond and the Washburn-Norlands Living History Center, 290 Norlands Road.

The public is invited to lend a hand bringing in the winter “crop.” Traditional 1800s ice harvesting methods will be used.

Activities will include cutting and hauling the blocks of ice from the pond to the barn and packing them in the ice house.

Admission is free, and food and hot beverages will be available.

VFW meeting

LEWISTON – The Longley-Dionne VFW Post 9150 will meet at noon Sunday, Jan. 27, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, 1675 Lisbon St.

All officers and members are invited.

Corps to meet

AUBURN – The Central Maine Detachment, Marine Corps, will hold installation of officers at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, at the American Legion Post 153, 71 South Main St., New Auburn. A buffet will follow.

All members are asked to attend, as the installation will be the first held since the reorganization of the detachment.
