GARDINER – The Open Book Players will hold auditions for its production of Dylan Thomas’ “Under Milk Wood” from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 3, at Johnson Hall.

The play, completed by Thomas just before his death in 1953, will be presented March 15-16.

A moving and hilarious account of a spring day in a small Welsh coast town, “Under Milk Wood” begins with dreams and ghosts before dawn, moves through the brilliant, noisy day of the townspeople and closes as the “rain of dusk brings on the bawdy night.”

This “play for voices” will be directed by Lucy Rioux, artistic director of the Open Book Players.

There are parts for men and women of all ages with a cast of six to eight actors. There is some singing for some characters. People auditioning will read from the script. Those who wish to sing should come prepared to do so with or without recorded music.

For more information, call Lucy Rioux at 582-5717, or e-mail her at lucyrioux@gmail.com.
