BETHEL – Thomas Knight poured in a game-high 25 points for Dirigo as the Cougars (13-1) defeated host Telstar 94-34 in Mountain Valley Conference boys’ basketball Monday night.

Enrique Ross drained three shots from beyond the arc and notched 11 points. Colby Knapp also scored 11 and Nick Crutchfield added 10 in the win.

The Rebels (4-10) were led by Andy Whitney’s 13 points, which included one from downtown.

Gould 47, NYA 46

BETHEL – Freshman Max Wales hit an off-balance 3-pointer at the buzzer Monday night, lifting Gould Academy to a big 47-46 Western Class C boys’ basketball victory over North Yarmouth Academy.

Gould (9-3) stole the ball with 10 seconds remaining to set up Wales’ heroics. Wales had only one previous field goal and a free throw in the game.

The Huskies trailed 25-17 at halftime before using a 16-9 run in the third quarter to pull within a point.

Joe Johnson led Gould with 17 points and 17 rebounds. Another freshman, Jeff Fortunato, scored 11 points. Taylor Gorman topped NYA (8-6) with 12 points.

Wiscasset 58, Lisbon 34

LISBON FALLS – Nick Hinkley drained a game-high 20 points as Wiscasset beat Lisbon 58-34 in the MVC. Chris Whitney’s eight points led the way for the Greyhounds. Kyle Neagle notched six points and Guy Jenkins grabbed six rebounds to go along with a 3-pointer.

Leclerc scores 1,000th

WINTHROP – Sam Leclerc of Winthrop scored his 1,000th career point Monday night in the Ramblers’ 76-54 victory over Monmouth.

Leclerc needed 16 points to reach the milestone and hit the mark in the third quarter.

Brunswick 9, Lisbon/Oak Hill 1

AUBURN – Cam Blouin faced 72 shots and made 63 saves in Lisbon/Oak Hill’s 9-1 loss to Brunswick on Monday night.Tyler Pomerleau scored the lone goal for the Barracudas (2-10). For the Dragons, Wes Caparratto and Connor Kelly each recorded two goals and two assists. Jason Lachance added a pair and dished an assist and Tyler Cohdon notched one goal and two assists.

College basketball

CMCC 65, UMA 55

AUBURN – Nate Damm and Cam Angell poured in 16 points each as the Mustangs (11-10) used full court pressure and a 10 point lead at the half to defeat the University of Maine at Augusta, 65-55, in small-college men’s basketball Monday night at Kirk Hall.

Tristan Starbird of Auburn, a former teammate of Damm’s at Eastgate Christian Academy, led the Moose (6-8) with 16 points.

Starbird hit two 3-pointers.
