Texas Hold ‘Em

RUMFORD – The Moontide Water Festival Committee will hold a Texas Hold ‘Em Tournament at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2.

At the last event, first place went to Elijah White of Carthage, $1,225; second, Vernon Davis of Bethel, $600; third, Rod Lord of Chesterville, $300; and fourth, Don Cummings of Mexico, $200.

A change that will go into effect on Saturday will be that if time runs out the chip leader at the end of the last round of betting will win first place.

The tournament can field up to 100 players. The turnouts have been small and more players are needed.

The committee is attempting to raise money for the July 4th fireworks. For every $105 that it takes in, $75 goes back to the players, $5 goes to the state for the license, $18.75 goes to charity and $6.25 goes for expenses. For more information, call Ed at 418-8610.

Bake sale

MEXICO – A bake sale will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Wal-Mart. Proceeds will benefit the Apostolic Youth Groups of Rumford missionary trip to the countries of Norway and Wales in March. For more information, call Debbie at 392-1841.
