PORTLAND (AP) – The full U.S. Senate is poised to take up a bill that Maine’s two senators say would set the stage for improvements to Acadia National Park.

The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Commmittee gave its approval Wednesday to the Acadia National Park Improvement Act, which is sponsored by Sens. Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins.

As written, the bill would extend the Acadia National Park Advisory Commission for 20 more years and increase the park’s land acquisition ceiling by $10 million.
