Air Force Staff Sgt. Patrick R. Araujo has been named Airman of the Week at Balad Air Base, Iraq.

Selection was based on Araujo’s exemplary duty performance, job knowledge, leadership qualities, significant self-improvement, specific achievements, notable accomplishments and community service and support.

Araujo, an electrical systems engineer with seven years of military service, is assigned to the 9th Civil Engineer Squadron, Beale Air Force Base, Marysville, Calif.

He is the son of Trudy Marshall of Jay and grandson of Carolyn Berry of New Sharon. The sergeant is a 2000 graduate of Mt. Blue High School, Farmington.
