PARIS – The walls of the 19th century home at McLaughlin Garden will feature the work of local artists until the end of winter.

The Mid-Winter Members’ Art Sale, which opened Friday, is being put on by the Western Maine Art Group. The show will run until the end of March.

Michael Desplaines, executive director of McLaughlin Garden, said the artwork will be available for viewing from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Saturday. He expected to feature 12 and 14 pieces.

Desplaines said the art group and the historic garden have collaborated for art shows before, but were limited to summer work in the adjoining barn. A recent restoration to the house’s front parlor included a picture rail, which allows artwork to be displayed during all seasons.

“The McLaughlin Garden sets the bar for encouraging the arts, promoting artists and nurturing the creative economy in the Oxford Hills,” said Aranka Matolcsy, the art group’s executive director. “We are extremely happy to be collaborating again, to provide these cultural opportunities for our local artists and the community at large.”
