LEWISTON – The annual White Mass for health care professionals and caregivers will be held Sunday, Feb. 3, at the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul.

Bishop Richard J. Malone will celebrate the Mass at 10 a.m. in honor of those who work in the healing and caring professions, including doctors, nurses, EMTs, lab technicians, therapists and others. A reception will follow the service.

The White Mass marks the World Day of Prayer for the Sick. This occasion allows the bishop to meet and thank health care professionals from all denominations, and to ask God’s blessing upon their work. The White Mass is named for the color of the vestments worn on that day, which is associated with the medical profession.
