MARLBOROUGH, Mass. – The Lewiston Area Youth Hockey League Mite Orange Jr. Maineiac team enjoyed a successful weekend Jan. 25-27 at the 2008 Challenge Cup Tournament. The team advanced to the championship game against the Southern Maine Huskies Elite team, taking home runner-up honors with a 7-1 loss.

The Mite Orange team won its first game on Friday morning against the West Haven Devils by a score of 6-5 with a dynamic performance by Cole Ouellette, the team’s top scorer.

Lewiston beat Gardiner White on Saturday 6-5 in a hard-fought battle.

The team played early Sunday morning, against the Cape Cod Coyotes and won the game 7-1 with outstanding goaltending by Conrad Albert. The defensive line of Gavin Bates, Dominic Bourgoin, Joseph Bussiere and Ouellette was fierce in protecting the net. That win propelled the Maineiacs into the semifinal round.

Going into the playoff round of the tournament, the Jr. Maineiacs were 3-0 with a rematch against Gardiner White.

The game went into double-overtime, with Ouellette getting the game winning goal in a 7-6 victory. Brady Guimond, Noah Irish, Owen Kelly, Ryan Parsons and Tyler Wall demonstrated exceptional play during the game.

Sunday evening, Lewiston battled it out against the Southern Maine Huskies Elite team , but the Huskies were too much handle and the Jr. Maineiacs fell short of a clean sweep.

Also putting in outstanding efforts over the weekend for the Mite Orange team were Richard Clark, Nicholas Hemenway, Sean Lake, Connor Millett and Matthew Syphers.
