PORTLAND – Good Theater will stage the award-winning play “Prelude To A Kiss,” by Craig Lucas, Feb. 14 to March 9. The romantic comedy is about a quirky young couple who meet and fall in love. On their wedding day, a mysterious stranger shows up and as he kisses the bride, everyone’s world changes.

The play originally premiered at the South Coast Repertory in 1988. It opened off-Broadway in 1990, where it received rave reviews and transferred to Broadway, playing the Helen Hayes Theatre and starring Timothy Hutton, Mary Louise Parker and Barnard Hughes.

The Broadway production ran for 440 performances, received a Tony Award nomination as Best Play and was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

Last season, the Roundabout Theatre Company presented a Broadway revival starring John Mahoney.
