BRUNSWICK – The Theater Project will host an eclectic evening of jazz, indie rock and folk, featuring two generations of local performers – fathers, sons and daughters – Friday, Feb. 15.

The fathers are Nelson/Mauceri Creative Sounds. The group uses jazz-based improvisations that draw on elements of folk, electronics and pop, with a healthy dose of the unexpected for good measure. Richard Nelson plays guitar and Frank Mauceri plays sax and handles electronics. Rounding out the band are Don Stratton on trumpet, Tim O’Dell on saxophone, Stu Mahan on bass and Steve Grover on drums.

The original indie rock band 9th Rail comprises one part of the sons and daughters element – Dan Nelson on guitar and vocals, Cecelia Mauceri on drums and Jasper Boyd on bass. 9th Rail has a ’90s guitar-based indie rock flavor with lyrical influences from Frank Blevins to Kim Gordon to Jay Farrar.

Dan Nelson also performs acoustic guitar, featuring American traditional songs ranging from the Carter family to Woody Guthrie.

The concert will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for general admission. For more information, call 729-8584. The Theater Project is at 14 School St.
