Manager to speak
RUMFORD – The Rumford Historical Society will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the auditorium, Municipal Building, Congress Street.
Town Manager Jim Doar will speak on his current plans and future hopes for the town. It is an open meeting and anyone interested in meeting Doar and hearing his vision for the town are invited.
Club to nominate
MEXICO – Trail Blazers Snowmobile Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the Mexico Town Hall downstairs, Main Street.
Nomination of officers will be held. All are welcome. Those who would like to become a member may do so at a meeting or by calling Nick Brown at 364-8665.
Class plans lunch
RUMFORD – Stephens High School Class of 1946 will meet for a luncheon at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the River Valley Grill, Exchange Street.
Reading contest
RUMFORD – Rumford Elementary School students are taking on the Elementary School Read Across America Pie in the Face reading challenge.
If students read 2,000 books between Feb. 4 and 28, staff members will take a pie in the face on Friday, Feb. 29. A book-themed puppet show will be performed at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 29 in the cafeteria.
On Monday, March 3, guests will read to students and there will be a Reading is Fundamental book distribution. Call 364-8155 for more information.
Sign-up postponed
OXFORD – Marcia Hall, executive director of USDA’s Farm Service Agency in Oxford County, has announced that it is postponing sign-up for the Dairy Disaster Assistance Program until the agency publishes final regulations in the Federal Register. Sign-up was scheduled to resume Monday, Feb. 4.
