BETHEL – Old-time Indian pudding will be served from the hearth of the winter kitchen at the Bethel Historical Society’s Dr. Moses Mason House during the 34th annual Heritage Day from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 16.
One of the recipes being used was a favorite of the Glines family, who once operated a popular eating place in Bethel. It was followed by the late Judy Haskell in providing the dessert for Heritage Day for more than 20 years. The Glines recipe includes milk, sugar, molasses, eggs, cornmeal, salt and cinnamon and advises that it be baked in a bean pot for three hours.
Also from 1 to 4 p.m., Jay Boschetti of Steam Mill Antiques will be at the Bethel Regional History Center’s Robinson House to provide, for a $5 donation, an opinion of the value of antiques and collectibles.
Other attractions during the day will be exhibits and crafts demonstrations. There will also be a series of historical films on local subjects. The museum shop will be open as well.
