WOODSTOCK – Although selectmen and Town Manager Vern Maxfield hope to make a few more cuts in their 2008 budget proposal next Tuesday, they think they are close to a final figure that is $48,600 more than last year.

Maxfield said that while general government, property maintenance, protection, insurance and planning are up slightly, others are either down or the same as 2007. Road maintenance is down by $114,000 from the $553,705 approved by voters last year.

Maxfield estimates that $1,617,503 will be raised through property taxes, compared with the $1,568,887 last year.
