RUMFORD – The third-Annual Greg Waite Memorial ski race is scheduled for 6 p.m. Saturday, February 23 at Black Mountain of Maine.

Waite, a great friend, teacher,coach and advocate of Alpine competition in Maine, had a gift for fueling his passions for skiing, ski racing and having a great time with others.

In his honor, the race will benefit the Black Mountain of Maine Alpine Race Program that Greg loved and supported.

The event is set up for teams of four races. Individual racers may enter but will be placed with other individuals to form a team. Entry fee is $100 per team at $25 per person. A 5 to 9 p.m. lift ticket for racers will be $12 if purchased with your race entry.

The format of the race is a handicapped giant slalom. Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place teams with handicaps applied, and first, second and third place “Top Dog” for straight time individuals.

Team slots are limited, and pre-registration is preferred. To enter the race or for more information, call Black Mountain of Maine Lodge at 364-8977. Cash, Visa, Mastercard and checks are accepted.
