LEWISTON – The Lewiston/Auburn Time Dollar Bank Program will hold an orientation from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at the Thrive offices, 124 Canal St. The orientation is for anyone interested in serving on the Advisory Council.

The Time Dollar Bank allows neighbors to help neighbors and strangers to become friends. Individuals and organizations across Maine, the U.S. and the world are trading their assets of time, talents, experiences and skills to strengthen the social networks of family, neighborhood and community.

The program is a collaboration between Thrive and Catholic Charities Maine. Call Sharon Carter at 782-5783, ext. 203, to RSVP or for more information. There will be light refreshments and beverages served.

The program is based on a cooperative system of reciprocity where members gain by giving as well as receiving. Members exchange services for Time Dollars, the currency of equality, where an hour’s worth of service earns one Time Dollar, regardless of the service.
