VFW meeting

LEWISTON – The Lewiston VFW Post 9150 will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street. All officers and members are invited.

The agenda will include location of future meetings, election of officers, poppy sales and other activities. Eligible veterans are invited to join the post.

Meeting reset

AUBURN – Mary Dillingham Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution, has rescheduled its meeting to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at the Androscoggin Historical Society, Court Street. Members should bring a bag lunch. Charles Lord will present the program.

Any woman over age 18 with a direct blood line to a Revolutionary War Patriot or someone who gave aid to the cause is eligible to join the Daughters of the American Revolution. Call Beverly Robbins for more information at 577-0706.

Club speaker

AUBURN – The Garden Club of the Woman’s Literary Union will meet at the clubhouse, 19 Elm St., at 2 p.m. Thursday Feb. 21. Roger Roberge, Provencher’s Landscape and Garden Center, will demonstrate how to create a water garden from a rain barrel or wash tub. Hospitality will be provided by Marilyn Wilkinson. Refreshments will be served and guests are welcome.

Canine testing

SABATTUS – The Lewiston-Auburn Kennel Club will sponsor Canine Good Citizens testing from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday,, Feb 23, at the Sabattus Town Hall. Doors will open at 9 a.m.

By proving a dog is obedient, is friendly to humans and other dogs and passing the test, the pet could earn the designation of Canine Good Citizen given by the American Kennel Club.

Art club guest

AUBURN – The Auburn art Club will meet at 2 p.m. Monday, Feb. 25, at the High Street Congregational Church.

Guest will be Tahlia Chamberlain, executive director of Literacy Volunteers-Androscoggin, established in 1974. Its mission is to offer tutoring and educational services to adults in Androscoggin County.

Bonnie Ross, chairwoman for the day, will be joined by Barbara Randall, Virginia Johnson and Maude Abbott in presenting the program.

Basket bingo

AUBURN – Auburn Middle School will hold is fourth annual basket bingo, sponsored by the Auburn Middle School PTO, at 12:30 p.m. Monday, March 30, at the Lewiston Elks Lodge, Lisbon Road. Doors will open at 10:30.

Cost is $12 in advance; $15 at the door. Tickets may be purchased from Sue Callahan, 784-1356; the school; or Ann’s Flower Shop.

Additional cards/raffles can also be purchased at Basket Bingo. Refreshments will be available. Proceeds will purchase assignment notebooks for all students.
