Two German shepherds have been selected and are being trained for search and rescue duties as part of the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Department’s new canine program. Sheriff Joseph P. Laliberte said the dogs, named Jesse and Kaiser, are being trained by a Wells dog trainer for tracking and search-and-rescue missions. The German shepherds will be the only police dogs in the county.
