No meeting

AUBURN – There will be no meeting of the Androscoggin Valley Square and Compass Club for February. Plans for the March meeting will be discussed at the directors’ meeting scheduled for Thursday, March 6, at the Auburn Masonic Hall on Turner Street.

Canine classes

AUBURN – Great Falls Dog Obedience Club is starting another six-week dog obedience class Wednesday, Feb. 27, in Auburn. Beginners will meet at 6:30 p.m. and advanced at 7:30. Dogs must be at least 3 1/2 months old. To register and for more information, call the club’s trainer, Diane Harrington, at 784-7578.

College class

TURNER – SAD 52 River Valley Adult and Community Education, along with the Maine Educational Opportunity Center, will present “College Ready” from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at the Adult Learning Center, 486 Turner Center Road.

Participants will learn more about the process of applying to colleges and how to get the most out of scholarships and financial aid.

The workshop is intended for those adults without a high school diploma, not enrolled in a degree program and not holding a four-year college degree. They will find out how to fill out college applications, FAFSA forms and interest surveys.

Dental funding

SACO – Northeast Delta Dental Foundation contributed more than $60,000 in 2007 to the success of oral health programs in Maine. For a second year, it provided funding to Oral Health America’s Smiles Across America Maine.

B Street Health Center and Community Dental of Lewiston, Eastport Health Center, Islands Community Medical Services of Vinalhaven, Matinicus and North Haven, and the Root Cellar Free Dental Clinic of Portland received grants for either dental equipment or supplies.

Northeast Delta Dental administers dental benefits to more than 690,000 people in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont, and offer programs for individuals and for businesses.
