LEWISTON – Mitchell Clyde Thomas recently joined the staff of Calvary United Methodist Church at 59 Sabattus St. He serves as the downtown church’s music director, leading and playing for all of the church’s musical activities and services.

Thomas has been the music director for the Saturday 4 p.m. service at the Auburn United Methodist Church, where he has also been the pianist and directed children’s choirs for 18 years. He has also been a longtime director of music theater productions at the denomination’s Camp Mechuwana in Winthrop.

For the past five years, Thomas has been the director of music at the New England Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in Massachusetts. He also directs and performs in productions at Lewiston-Auburn’s Community Little Theater; most recently the December production of “A Christmas Carol: The Musical.”

Calvary United Methodist Church pastor, the Rev. Casey Collins, said, “We are delighted to have Mitch’s dynamic talents onboard. His passion for music fills the services with spirit and joy.”
