AUBURN – The Corporate and Community Services Department at Central Maine Community College will present a workshop on “Stress Management” (CED 011-01) from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, March 14. The cost of $99 includes materials.

The workshop focuses on stress management, specifically how to find a level of stress that is not only manageable, but useful, and how to avoid stress beyond that level.

Participants will also learn the basics of good emotional health, how to improve their self-image and become more self-aware, and how their emotional health ties in to their physical health.

“We are more conscious of our health today than ever before. We are living longer and better because we are eating healthier and exercising more regularly.” said workshop facilitator, Marylin Newell. “But what about stress? Stress is a normal part of everyday life, and our picture of our overall health would not be complete without some consideration of how stress affects our emotional (and physical) health.”

Newell is an executive coach, seminar leader and registered counselor and the founder of Life Matters in Mechanic Falls. She started as an adjunct faculty member in 1988 with what is now Central Maine Community College and with the former Mid-State College. She was the academic dean and campus director at Mid-State College. She has served as president at Andover College in Portland and McIntosh College in Dover, N.H.
