MEXICO – A Peru woman escaped serious injury during Friday’s snowstorm when she lost control of her truck and rolled it over on Route 2, Mexico Officer Dustin Broughton said last evening.
Sally Hansen, 52, suffered a minor injury to a hand and was taken by Med-Care Ambulance to Rumford Hospital, where she was treated and released, Broughton said.
About 5:30 p.m., Hansen was driving east from Mexico to Peru when her Toyota pickup truck slid on the slippery snow and ice-covered highway. After rolling, the truck came to rest on its side in the median, blocking both lanes and leaking fuel, Broughton said.
The highway was shut down for about an hour. Traffic was rerouted by Mexico firefighters, Dixfield and Rumford police, and Oxford County Sheriff’s deputies.
Broughton estimated damage to the truck at roughly $3,000.
