RUMFORD – A Rumford man will be arraigned next month on charges of sex crimes against a teenage girl in 2000.

On Thursday, an Oxford County grand jury indicted Bernard D. Hopkins, 50, of 4 Byron St., on three counts of gross sexual assault and three counts of unlawful sexual contact.

Regarding the rape charges, the indictment states that Hopkins, who was 43 at the time, engaged in a sexual act with a girl under the age of 14 on Feb. 1, April 1 and June 1, 2000, in Rumford.

The other charges state that Hopkins subjected the same girl to sexual contact on March 1, May 1, and July 1, 2000, also in Rumford.

Hopkins was summoned by Rumford Detective Lt. Mark Cayer and will be arraigned on March 24 in Oxford County Superior Court in Paris.
