RUMFORD – Two Rumford men accused of setting fire to a pickup truck in March 2007, were indicted by the Oxford County grand jury on charges of arson and theft.
Henry A. Ross Jr., 30, of Virgin Street was indicted on felony charges of arson and theft. Edward T. Vidito, 46, also of Virgin Street, was indicted on one felony charge of arson.
Arson is punishable by a prison term of up to 30 years. Theft is punishable by a prison term of up to 10 years.
Ross’ 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck was burned and left in the woods in Greenwood. Ross is accused of setting fire to the truck in an effort to deceive his insurance company.
Joel Davis with the Office of the State Fire Marshal said the two men were arrested on the truck-burning charges when his department investigated a fire in the Virginia section of Rumford that destroyed several homes.
That case is still under investigation, he said Friday afternoon.
