AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) – Police say a 72-year-old woman who was found dead inside her Augusta apartment was the victim of a homicide.
Audrey Lou Benn was found late Friday afternoon by a friend who had gone to her basement apartment on State Street.
The state medical examiner’s office ruled the death a homicide following an autopsy on Saturday, but the cause of death is being withheld.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said Benn had no known relatives, and that state and Augusta police were investigating the scene and interviewing people on Saturday.
