Emblem club to hold basket bingo fundraiser

FARMINGTON – The February meeting of Farmington Emblem Club 460 recorded a low attendance of 22 members due to bad weather.

Baskets are filled and ready for the club’s Longaberger basket bingo to be held at the Farmington Elks Lodge on Sunday, March 9. The doors will open at 11:30 a.m. and bingo will start at 1 p.m. Tickets are $20 each.

For information or to purchase a ticket, call Nancy at 779-0752 or Shannon at 778-4726 or any club member. Refreshments will be available. Shannon Smith is chairwoman.

Smith is also chairwoman for the supper honoring past presidents. It will precede the March meeting.

First Vice President Sylvia Richards will lead a fundraising bottle drive from now until the June meeting when the club will break for the summer.

Installation of new officers will be held Saturday, March 22, at the Elks Lodge. Richards will be installed as the new president and her year will begin with the club’s meeting in April. A nominating committee was selected to fill the chairs for the upcoming year.

Literacy Chairwoman Diana Oliver will hold a bakeless bake sale in March as a fundraiser for literacy. It was announced that the next national convention will be held in Reno, Nev., Sept. 7 to 13.

The 50-50 raffle was won by Avis Mahoney, pot of gold by Janette Jackson, and the mystery gift by Connie Johnson.

The Emblem Club sponsored a valentine dance at the Elks Lodge on Feb. 9. Members cooked and baked for the meal that started the evening, then everyone danced to the music of the Legends. Raffles were held throughout the evening.
