HALLOWELL – The Gaslight Theater will hold auditions for the musical “Bye Bye Birdie” at 6:30 p.m. March 5, 9 and 12 at Hallowell City Hall.
A satire done with the fondest affection, “Bye Bye Birdie” tells the story of a rock ‘n’ roll singer who is about to be inducted into the army. “An English Teacher,” “What Did I Ever See in Him?,” “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Boy,” “A Lot of Livin’ to Do,” “Kids,” “Rosie” and “Spanish Rose” are musical theater classics.
The cast calls for six men, six women, five boys and five girls (ages 12-60). Also needed: someone who can give a convincing imitation of a young Elvis.
“Bye Bye Birdie” will be staged June 19-21 and 26-28, with possible matinees June 22 and 29. For more information, contact Deb Howard at 512-2841.
