PARIS – After spending a year at the Oxford Hills Chamber of Commerce, Executive Director Kelsey Jewell is leaving to attend graduate school.

Jewell, 23, will continue to serve until her employment contract expires in May.

“I will certainly remain very cordial with the board, and will certainly be happy to lend a hand,” she said. However, Jewell said she does not see herself having any role in the chamber after the contract expires.

A search committee, chaired by Sue Goulet, will begin the process of finding a replacement during Jewell’s transition period.

Jewell was chosen from 17 applicants and began serving last May. She previously worked as the director of Parks and Recreation for the town of Paris as well as the deputy director and programming director of the International Seeds of Peace camp in Otisfield.

Jewell said none of the chamber’s programs will be affected during her transition and departure.

“A lot of the work at the chamber is done by committees,” she said. “Those committees are well-led and well-staffed by volunteers and should go on without a hitch.”
