LEWISTON – Because consumers are increasingly relying on search engines such as Google and Yahoo to find the products and services they need, Lewiston Adult Education is offering a course to help local businesses looking to boost their bottom line by taking advantage of everything e-commerce has to offer.

“Search Engine Optimization for the Busy Entrepreneur” will teach participants how to increase the visibility of their business by using the search engines to channel Internet traffic to their Web site.

The course will be taught online, to fit more easily into busy schedules. The virtual format will give participants access to the instructor, hands-on experience, the chance to have questions answered and a number of resources right from a personal computer. The class will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. two Tuesdays, March 11 and 18.

Business classes taught locally are also available. “Running Meetings that Work,” instructed by human resource management expert Jackie Little, will teach participants concrete methods to make meetings more effective.

The workshop will cover strategies to keep meeting times to a minimum while making the most out of the time spent. The seminar will meet from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Lewiston High School.

“Small Business Financing,” will offer an overview of the loan options available to the new or established business. Taught by Andrea Harvey, vice president of TD Banknorth, the one-night seminar will show business owners how to select a loan that will meet their specific needs. The class will meet from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 6, at Lewiston High School.
