AUBURN – Lindsey Montana will bring his ’67 Gibson and eclectic song list back to Holly’s Own Deli Friday, March 7.

A veteran musician with more than 1,000 gigs under his belt, Montana believes his recent switch from keyboards to guitar is proving to be a positive outlet for songwriting and singing.

“Trying to promote original music while playing keyboards was a frustrating experience for me,” he said. “If I was lucky enough to find a venue with a genuine acoustic piano, people would often expect show tunes because that’s what they were familiar with. Playing guitar has opened up a whole new rapport with listeners, and I’m really enjoying playing and singing on a higher level every time I go out.”

Montana’s original songs feature catchy melodies with powerful lyrics purposely open to multiple interpretations. Cover songs are likewise subject to stylistic variations, true to the improvisational, jam-band traditions familiar to fans of the numerous bands Montana has worked with. Among those bands are After Ten Band, Glenlivits, Lazy Lightning and Broken Men.

The show will begin at 6:30 p.m. There is no cover. Holly’s Own Deli is at 84 Court St.
