LEWISTON – Public Relations Officer Paul R. Bernard has announced the Monday, March 11, meeting of the Franco American War Veterans Post 31 at 6:45 p.m. at the Multi-Purpose Center, 145 Birch St.
Post 31 opened in October 1986, with 25 members and it presently has approximately 150 members. The post aids veterans and donates comfort items to the Department of Voluntary Services at Togus.
Members also donate gifts, clothing and toys to Montello School, send packages to men and women in the Armed Forces and collect aluminum can tabs and donate the proceeds to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
The post members and auxiliary also place more than 2,300 American flags at St. Peter’s Cemetery every Memorial Day.
The post is a member of the Lewiston Auburn Veterans Council, which was responsible for the founding and development of the Veterans Memorial Park.
