CARTHAGE – New England Celtic Arts will present Cape Breton fiddler and step dancer Mairi Rankin at a 7 p.m. concert Sunday, March 9, at Skye Theatre Performing Arts Center. A preshow jam will start at 6:30 p.m.

Born in Mabou, Nova Scotia, Rankin has performed as a solo artist and a sideman and is a member of the Cape Breton Celtic group Beolach. She has performed with the Rankin Sisters, Unusual Suspects and Bruce Guthro. She has appeared on the television broadcasts of “DRUM;” the East Coast Music Awards; Rita MacNeil’s Christmas special and MNE’s Togaidh Sinn Fonn in Scotland. Her festival credits include Celtic Connections, the Chicago Celtic Festival, the Milwaukee Irish Festival, BLAS and Tonder.

Rankin has recorded one solo album, two CDs with Beolach and has been featured on numerous compilations and recordings. As an educator, she has taught at universities, high schools and festivals.
