GARDINER – The Open Book Players with present “Under Milk Wood,” a play for voices written by Dylan Thomas, Saturday and Sunday, March 15-16, at Johnson Hall.

A moving and funny account of a spring day in a small Welsh coastal town, “Under Milk Wood” begins with dreams and ghosts before dawn, moves through the brilliant, noisy day of the townspeople and closes as the “rain of dusk brings on the bawdy night.”

This production, directed by Lucy Rioux, artistic director, features a cast of 10 local actors who portray multiple roles throughout the performance. They are Peg Acheson, Ellen Lamb and Dorothy Washburne of Gardiner; Kathleen Brainerd and Mike Clements of West Gardiner; Patrick Forestell of Brunswick; Toby Haber of Auburn; Colleen Mahan of Greene; Bob McIntire of Hallowell; and Cindy Turcotte of Bowdoin.

Making up the tech crew are Kenyon and Paul Fraser of Litchfield.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, March 15; and at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 16. Tickets are $8 for general admission. For reservations, call 582-5717. Tickets will also be available for purchase at the door.
