Homemakers

PERU – The Peru Extension Homemakers will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 13, for a short business meeting at the Peru Baptist Church. Members will visit the Maine Veterans’ Home in South Paris after that and have lunch out.

AL birthday

DIXFIELD – Swasey-Torrey Post 100, American Legion, will celebrate its 89th birthday at the Dixfield Legion Hall on Sunday, March 16. Social hour will be 5 to 6 p.m. and a ham dinner at 6 p.m., with a program to follow. There will be a $5 dinner charge. The Legion and Auxiliary will honor all past commander and past presidents attending. During the evening there will be a drawing for the hall repair raffle.

Library guest

DIXFIELD – Ludden Memorial Library will have a special guest read to preschoolers from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Monday, March 24. Children’s author Louise Bernstone will visit. She writes light poetry about animals and life and is the author of “The Domed Bug.”

Riders to meet

ANDOVER – The Ellis River Riders will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 14, at the Andover Fire Station, Main Street. All members are welcome to attend and bring a friend. The Show Committee will meet at 6 p.m.

Basket bingo

DIXFIELD – Basket Bingo will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, March 29, at the American Legion. Cost is $10. The event is sponsored by the Dirigo Athletic Boosters. Tickets are available at Dirigo High School, Far East Restaurant in Mexico or call Barbara at 562-8989.

Society to meet

PERU – The Peru Historical Society will meet Tuesday, March 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the home of Conrad and Nancy Knox.
